What is Numerology?

Numerology is the practice of assigning mystical properties to numbers. It claims that a person’s birthday number, full birth name and hereditary numbers contain numbers that illuminate their life’s path, challenges and destiny. Like astrology, the practice has skeptics. But it also has many fans, especially people who choose lucky numbers at roulette tables and the like.

Unlike other forms of divination, numerology is based on simple math. To determine a person’s core numbers, a numerologist calculates the numbers in the individual’s date of birth (mm/dd/yyyy) and full birth name. A person’s number is said to reflect his or her essence and determine how a person interacts with the world around him or her.

A number’s vibration is said to influence what a person eats, where he or she goes and how he or she behaves in the world. The numbers are said to provide clues about a person’s relationships and career, and to reveal whether the individual has karmic weaknesses that need addressing.

Practicing numerology involves learning about the different numbers and their interpretations, and building charts for friends and family. While some websites offer free, predictive readings based on a person’s birth date and full name, it’s important to understand how to build a chart yourself to ensure your own safety and that the information you share is secure. The ability to compose a numerology chart only requires basic arithmetic and is easy enough for any adult to master, regardless of age or education.
