What Is Numerology?

Numerology is the belief that every person and object vibrates at a unique frequency. Decoding this vibrational energy can reveal important clues about a person’s personality traits and life path.

Numerlogy’s roots stretch back to ancient societies like the Pythagoreans. The sages believed that numbers held mystical properties and could offer clues about the nature of the universe, its origins and our place within it.

Today, numerologists study the recurring patterns of numbers and letters. These resemblances are sometimes cited as evidence for the existence of God or a supernatural force, and they can be found in daily events, historical records and religious texts such as the Bible.

Many numerology systems start with a person’s birth date and add up the digits to arrive at a number known as their life or destiny number. The resulting number is thought to indicate a person’s core personality and what the world needs from them (destiny). Other numbers are derived from a person’s full name, including an Active Number, Hereditary Numbers and their corresponding Soul Urge and Personality Number.

People often use their core numbers to help them find a career that will be both fulfilling and rewarding, or to understand what challenges they might face at work. They also may take their numerology numbers into consideration when naming children and businesses.
