What is Numerology?

Numerology is the belief that numbers have special meaning and hold clues to your destiny. Numerologists study the numbers in your birthdate, name and other personal information to make predictions about your future and explain patterns that appear in your daily life.

The practice is based on the work of Pythagoras, a philosopher who believed that the physical world was aligned through non-physical forces best articulated through numbers. Numerology has many critics who say it is pseudoscientific nonsense, but people often see numbers that resonate with them in their daily lives and in their relationships. These numbers can be interpreted to determine personality traits, compatibility levels and other things that numerology practitioners claim to be able to predict.

Some believe that the number of occurrences of certain numbers in daily events, historical records and religious texts such as the Bible is too significant to be random. This led to the 23 Enigma and other theories that specific numbers have a hidden meaning or are related to supernatural forces.

The main part of a numerology reading is analyzing the numbers in a person’s date of birth, including the year, month and day. Combined with the person’s name, these numbers can reveal what they are naturally good at and what challenges they may face in their lives. This can help them decide what career path to take or even the types of relationships they should pursue. Many also use numerology to decide on a baby’s name, as the numbers in a name can affect a child’s personality and potential for success.
