Numerology – The Art of Fortune Telling

Numerology is the practice of using numbers to interpret your personality traits, strengths, challenges and life path or destiny. Unlike horoscopes, which are typically based on the time of year you were born, numerology readings are worked out from your full date of birth and can reveal much more about your character.

Each number corresponds to a different planet and has its own unique vibration. It is believed that numbers and their corresponding planets influence your personality, behaviors, and how you interact with others.

For example, people with a Two life path are the peacekeepers of the zodiac and crave harmony above all else. They are naturally intuitive and tend to be drawn to Tarot cards, palmistry, and other forms of divination. At their best, Twos are compassionate, honest and excellent friends. But they can also be overly sensitive and easily get triggered by conflict.

While many people use the word numerology to describe a form of fortune telling, the discipline has deeper roots in ancient Greek philosophy. The great mathematician, Pythagoras, is thought to have influenced the practice of numerology through his belief that everything vibrates to its own particular number. Later, the Hebrews developed a system of relating letters to numbers called Gematria that allowed them to translate words into their numerical equivalents.

There are a lot of free calculators online that can work out your core numbers for you, but a professional numerologist is the best way to discover the meanings behind them. A great starting point is Katie Youers’ ‘Fundations of Numerology Practitioner’ course on Udemy, which has a 4.9 student rating and plenty of downloadable resources.
