Numerology – The Art of Divination

numerology

Numerology is the belief that every living thing – including people, places, events and things we encounter – has a vibrational frequency. Decoding those frequencies can reveal clues to our deepest questions. It’s a form of divination, often said to predict the future or divine the unknowable, and it’s based on the idea that all numbers have a specific meaning.

The most common way to practice numerology is by calculating a person’s Life Path Number, which describes their personality traits and characteristics. To find a person’s Life Path Number, you start with their birth date and add up each digit in the month, day and year, reducing them to single digits until you get to a number between 1 and 9.

Some people use different methods to determine their numbers. One popular system, Kabbalah numerology, has roots in Jewish mysticism and relies on the idea that elevated self-awareness leads to greater knowledge. This system uses a chart that changes letters into numbers, then adds up the values of each first and middle name to find a person’s Kabbalah number.

There’s also Pythagorean numerology, which has its origins in the ancient Greek philosopher, mathematician and mystic Pythagoras. Pythagorean numerology uses a technique called gematria, the process of translating words into numbers, to divine the future and understand the universe. This technique was later used by the Hebrew Kabbalah and Christian Bibles. The numbers 11, 22 and 33 are known as master numbers, with the latter two associated with spiritual faith.
